Clear Aligners in Dearborn, MI

For straightening teeth or correcting misaligned bites, Invisalign clear aligners are now leading the way for patients seeking a comfortable and discreet alternative to traditional braces.

Benefits of Invisalign® & Clarity Aligners

Invisalign has many benefits that are appreciated by both adults and teens who need mild to moderate correction of orthodontic issues, including:

  • Discreet: Invisalign aligning trays are made of clear plastic and are nearly invisible when worn.
  • Comfortable: Clear aligners are more comfortable than metal brackets and wires because they are made of smooth plastic with no sharp edges.
  • Safer: When participating in sports, you can remove your Invisalign aligners and wear a mouthguard for added protection. In an unexpected accident, there are no wires or brackets to cut your lips or cheeks.
  • Hygienic: Invisalign trays are removed any time you eat, drink anything other than water, or brush and floss your teeth. This helps keep your teeth and aligners cleaner and free from debris and bacteria.
  • Less Restrictive: Traditional braces require you to avoid certain foods to prevent damage to the brackets and wires. You can remove your clear aligners to eat and enjoy all the foods you love.
  • Fewer Dental Appointments: Since you switch to a new set of aligners every few weeks at home, you require fewer visits to our office, allowing you more time for other activities.

Our Treatment Process

Clear aligner treatment begins with a consultation to determine if you are a suitable candidate and to address all your questions. We’ll start by taking X-rays and impressions of your teeth to create a 3D image. Using this, we can map out the exact movements of your teeth and create a virtual image for you of how your teeth will look. Based on your individualized plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners is made specifically for you.

The aligners are made of BPA-free clear plastic and fit snugly over your teeth. They are smooth and designed to be comfortable. You can remove them to clean your teeth and to eat and drink. About every two weeks, you will begin wearing a new set of aligners, progressing you toward your treatment goals. You will have a check-up in the office approximately every six weeks, allowing us to monitor your progress.

Clear Aligner FAQs

How does do clear aligners work?

Each set of clear aligners gently moves your teeth closer to their desired, final position. You wear a set of aligners for a few weeks, then progress to the next set, which moves the teeth a bit closer to their desired position. By moving your teeth in increments, Invisalign minimizes discomfort and maximizes stable, lasting results.

What dental issues can clear aligners treat?

We can treat mild to moderate orthodontic cases of:

  • Crowding
  • Gaps
  • Misalignment
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite

If your orthodontic issues are severe, we may recommend traditional braces as a treatment option.

How long do clear aligners take?

Most patients achieve their desired correction within 9 to 18 months, depending on the severity of the condition. Dr. Blazo can provide you with a more accurate timeline during your initial appointment.

Are aligners painful?

For the first few days after switching to a new set of aligners, you may experience some mild discomfort, but this typically subsides quickly. This discomfort indicates that Invisalign or  Clarity Aligners are working properly and moving your teeth into their new positions.
