Dental Implants Dearborn MI
Permanent tooth loss impacts your oral health, ability to eat comfortably, and smile confidently. At Advanced Smile, we can restore missing teeth using dental implants as replacements for missing tooth roots, supporting dental restorations that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The implant is surgically placed in the jawbone, where it gradually fuses with the surrounding bone, creating a strong, stable foundation for a crown, bridge, or full arch of permanent replacement teeth.
Benefits of Dental Implants
As the only tooth replacement option considered permanent, dental implants offer numerous benefits over dentures, bridges, or leaving a gap in your smile, including:
- Natural Function: Full chewing power is restored with dental implants, so you can eat normally and enjoy all the foods you love.
- Easy Care: You can brush and floss dental implant restorations like natural teeth.
- Longevity: Dental implants, made of titanium or zirconia, are designed to last for decades. For many patients, they last a lifetime.
- Biocompatibility: Both titanium and zirconia are biocompatible materials that are rarely rejected by the body, so you do not have to worry about failure due to your body rejecting the implants.
- Jawbone Preservation: When an implant is placed in the jawbone, the surrounding bone fuses with it. The stimulation of the implant and the chewing action that moves through it prevent bone loss. This also helps avoid the sunken appearance common when patients wear dentures for years.
- Stabilization of Other Teeth: If you get a single dental implant or a few implants, they will keep any remaining teeth in proper alignment by preventing the shifting and misalignment common when missing teeth leave gaps.
- Natural-Looking Smile: No other type of restoration looks as natural as dental implants. The restorations are designed to resemble your natural teeth, and the implants are strategically placed to support them, ensuring they look and feel like your real teeth.
- Convenience: With dental implants, you never have to remove them for eating, drinking, or maintenance. There is no need to worry about slipping or shifting dentures or the embarrassment of a denture falling out at an inopportune moment. You can sleep without removing your implants, making it easier to travel and stay over at friends’ homes.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?
If you are a healthy adult missing one or more teeth and do not have any current dental health issues, such as gum disease, you may be a candidate for dental implants. Even if you have some jawbone loss, we can perform a bone graft to build up the area before placing dental implants.
Certain individuals may not be suitable candidates due to health reasons. These may include those with a bleeding or blood-clotting disorder, those with an autoimmune disease, patients with active cancer, and those with uncontrolled diabetes. An evaluation by Dr. Blazo is the best way to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for dental implants.
Our Dental Implant Process
Dr. Blazo begins with a patient consultation, reviewing your medical history and performing a dental exam to determine whether dental implants are an appropriate solution for your tooth loss. If you and Dr. Blazo agree that implants are the answer, we will take X-rays, scans, and 3D images of your jaw and any remaining teeth. These are used to create a meticulous, personalized treatment plan for placing your dental implants.
On the day of surgery, he will numb the jawbone and provide dental sedation so that you are relaxed and comfortable throughout the process. Dr. Blazo uses your treatment plan to plot out the exact location and precise angle of each implant, placing them in the jawbone and suturing the gums around them. We provide you with a temporary crown, bridge, or denture that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. At the same time, your implants undergo osseointegration and healing, which can take anywhere from two to nine months.
When you return to our office, we will create your permanent restoration based on impressions taken of your mouth now that the swelling has subsided. Our lab fabricates new restorations from high-quality materials and fits them to the implants by Dr. Blazo using abutments. Once they are permanently attached, you have a beautiful, functional smile that can last a lifetime with good oral hygiene.
Dental Implants from Start to Finish
Dr. Blazo has the training, experience, and gentle touch to provide his patients with gorgeous, comfortable dental implants, from the initial consultation to the final fitting, without needing to refer them to an outside practitioner. By surgically placing the implants AND creating and attaching the restorations, we save you from the trouble of seeing another specialist and having to coordinate your care between two different doctors to get your desired results.
